OS3 HO ALL Pro Slot Car Professional Controller - Clear

One of the big problems guys face in advancing in the hobby has always been getting a good controller. The price is usually always the barrier. Current units from DR, Lucky Bob’s, DiFalco, and 3^rd Eye are in excess of $225.00. One is even above the $300.00 mark.

Some other popular brands don’t have that ability. It is highly frustrating. As an example: If a car needs a lot of sensitivity, then the circuit puts too much power into the brake/coast pot. Switching on that pot can cause the car to screech to a halt or have so much coast that if runs around on the track with no trigger input.

Full Power Kill Switch - With the switch in the Kill position, the Full Power post is not powered. Full Power will be set to the Choked value. If the Choke setting is at Min, the output voltage at full pull will be about 1-1.5V below track voltage. Increasing the Choke will reduce that power further. This is useful when running cars too sensitive for full track voltage ie. Brass Cars. It is also useful for lowering the power for new drivers. In the Full Power position, full track voltage is available at full trigger pull. There is no indicator to distinguish each position since the power running any LED would act as Coast power when the trigger is released. With a car on the track it is easy to test if the car increases speed when reaching the Full Power trigger position. The switch is well tucked in. Once set it will stay and does not need to be checked during use.

When you first pick up the OS3 HO ALL Pro, it is apparent that it is a quality, well thought out and constructed controller. Jerry's design uses a compact arrangement of control pots that are not hung out there in outer space like some units. All components are inside the handle or just above.

The current convention with most other competing designs is that the transistor is located on a big, bulky, heavy, cloddy, clunky heat sink hanging from the power wires below the controller handle. All of that is now incorporated into the handle of the Stage 3T. The only thing outside of the handle on the power wires is a small fixture for the fuse.

The short story is that the OS3 HO ALL Pro ran ALL of my pro magnet cars as fast as or faster than my DR controller. That includes: Ceramic Pro Super Stock, Club Stock Level 4 cars, 3 ohm Ceramic Level 25, Restricted Open, and Drop-In Neo.

For racers that want to be able to dail up enough coast to 'auto roll' a car , the OS3 HO ALL Pro's circuit can handle that.

H.O. HD30 RESISTOR NETWORKS

Miniature plug in circuit board allows racer to change the overall band resistance to best suit the type of motor being used. The higher the listed ohms the slower the band response and the lower the listed ohms the faster the band response. The standard networks are soldered and ready to install and have the same value resistance per band. The custom networks have miniature sockets and various values of resistors that can be mixed and matched to get the desired band response. All H.O. and 1/32 controllers come standard with a 290 ohm network. As a comparison, our 15 band Fanatic controllers have 300 ohms of total resistance.

Note: the network resistance, 290 ohms for example, is the resistance needed to control our transistor circuit and should not be confused with the ohms rating on a typical Parma type resistor.
